All the Motion of a Video, None of the Weight

Background videos are heavy, and most animated backgrounds are built for desktops. These were made for pages that have to load fast everywhere.

Lighter than a photo

No video file and no 3D engine: a background is a few kilobytes of drawing instructions.

Background video2–5 MB typical
Hero photo200–400 KB typical

Every screen shape

Drawn as shapes rather than pixels, so one design fills a tall phone, a widescreen banner and a square card, sharp at any size.

Kind to phones

Stops drawing when scrolled out of view, and shows a still frame to anyone whose device asks for less motion.

< 9 msthe slowest frame we measured on a slowed-down phone profile, where smooth motion allows 16.7 ms

How It Will Work

Three steps, no designer and no video editing. We're opening it to the early-access list first.
  1. Pick

Start from the collection. Each background loops forever without a visible seam.

  2. Style

Apply your brand colors and set the pace. What you see here is what your visitors get.

  3. Paste

Copy one snippet into your site, from hand-built HTML to WordPress, Webflow or Framer. Your content sits on top.

Animated Background Questions

Is this available now?

Not yet. Everything on this page runs live, but there's no way to put a background on your own site yet. Join the early-access list and you'll be among the first to try it.

Will it be free?

The early-access version will be free to use. We may add a paid plan for extras later, and people on the list will hear about it first.

Will a moving background slow my site down?

It's designed not to. There's no video file to download: each background is a few kilobytes of drawing code. It stops drawing when it's scrolled out of view and uses little processor time on phones.

Which website builders will it work with?

Anything that lets you add a little HTML: a hand-built site, WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Squarespace and most other builders.

What about visitors who prefer less motion?

If a visitor's device is set to reduce motion, they see a still frame of the background instead of the animation.

Can I use these animations in a video?

Yes, today. Most of these backgrounds are built from animations in the Movidmo video editor, where you can add them to a video, add text and music, and publish an MP4.
